How to Inquire on Results at a Specific Location
|
In the Superview IV Results environment, you can show result contours for a model.
But, how can you determine the result value at a specific location or node?
By accessing the "Inquire: Results" screen as follows:
- access the "Inquire" pull-down menu and choose "Results..."; then, select a node (or nodes); or
- select a node (or nodes) and then right click anywhere in the working area; a pop-up menu of options
will appear for the selected nodes; choose "Inquire Results" as shown in Figure 1.

Figure 1: After selecting a node, a pop-up menu of options is accessed by right-clicking in the working area.
The "Inquire Results" command is then selected.

As shown in Figure 2, the "Inquire: Results" screen will appear,
which lists the following information about the selected node:
- node number
- coordinates
- number of elements in which the node is used with a list of each part and element by number
- current result value
If you click on another node, the information in this screen will be updated for the currently selected node.
If you press and hold down the <Ctrl> key, you can add nodes to the current selection set and information for the
additional nodes will be appended to the screen display.

The "Inquire: Results" screen also provides the following features:
- The "Summary:" field accesses a drop-down menu with the following options for combining the results of currently
selected nodes: Maximum, Minimum, Mean, Range and Sum. You can use these combination methods to summarize results in an area
of interest, for example, to sum the reaction forces over several nodes or to sum the total heat flow through a certain area
of a heat transfer model.
- The "Clear Contents" button clears the text within the "Inquire: Results" screen.
- The "Save Values..." button accesses the "Export Results" screen, which enables you to save the "Inquire: Results" screen
data to a text file with an .out extension.
- The "Specify..." button accesses the "Specify Node" screen, which enables you to select a node by entering a node number.
The node will be highlighted in the working area display and its data will be shown in the "Inquire: Results" screen.
- The "Close" button closes the "Inquire: Results" screen.
