ALGOR SHOWCASES V17 AT OFFSHORE TECHNOLOGY CONFERENCE 2005

ALGOR will demonstrate its new V17 software at the Offshore Technology Conference 2005, being held from May 2 – 5, 2005 in Houston, Texas. ALGOR features an easy-to-use single user interface, FEMPRO, which provides direct CAD/CAE data exchange for all analysis types, allowing users to simply choose the analysis tools they need. For example, Servicios Industriales de la Marina (SIMA Peru S.A.) used ALGOR FEA to model and analyze this barge with spud legs, which carried a 180-ton excavator to dredge an undersea canal in Pisco Bay off the Pacific coast of Loberia. SIMA used ALGOR FEA to verify and optimize the barge design with linear static stress and critical buckling load analyses. Additionally, several components in high-load zones were modeled and analyzed separately including the spud helmet, bulkheads and spud leg structure. (Models courtesy of SIMA Peru S.A.)

PITTSBURGH, PA – April 18, 2005 – ALGOR, Inc., a leading provider of design, analysis and simulation software, announced that it will demonstrate all-new ALGOR V17 at the 37th annual Offshore Technology Conference 2005 (OTC 2005), being held from May 2 – 5, 2005 in Houston, Texas. OTC 2005 will bring together engineers, technicians, executives, operators, scientists and managers from more than 110 nations to discuss developments in the offshore industry fields of drilling, exploration, production and environmental protection.

As one of more than 2,000 exhibiting companies from more than 30 countries, ALGOR will show how its finite element analysis (FEA) software can help companies virtually test and predict real-world behavior of new and existing product designs, speed up time to market and make better, safer products at a lower cost. ALGOR FEA features an easy-to-use single user interface, FEMPRO, which provides direct CAD/CAE data exchange and full associativity with most CAD solid modelers. This allows engineers to simply choose the analysis tools they need, giving them access to ALGOR's wide range of simulation capabilities including linear and nonlinear static stress, Mechanical Event Simulation (MES) with linear and nonlinear material models, linear dynamics, steady-state and transient heat transfer, steady and unsteady fluid flow, electrostatics, fatigue, piping and full multiphysics.

"At the Offshore Technology Conference 2005, attendees will see free demonstrations of how our wide range of analysis and simulation tools fits their needs including piping design and analysis, design and code compliance for drilling platforms and complex CFD simulations," said ALGOR Product Manager, Bob Williams. "We will also be demonstrating the new features of V17, our latest software release, including all-new AISC code checking and rotating reference frames for modeling circulating flows."
