PipePak V9 features an all-new user interface (upper left) with right-click functionality, multiple views, docking toolbars, a tree view and a modern spreadsheet and includes a graphical viewing environment (lower right). The model shown here was created by engineers at the County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County to evaluate loads at the support locations of this odor control piping system, which is part of the Joint Water Pollution Control Plant in Carson, California. |
PITTSBURGH, PA – November 17, 2003 – ALGOR, Inc., a leading maker of
software for mechanical engineers, announced the release of PipePak V9, a new
version of its piping system design and analysis software. V9 makes it easier
for engineers to design entire piping systems through an all-new user interface
with right-click functionality, multiple views, docking toolbars, a tree view, a
modern spreadsheet for defining complete piping systems and more.
"PipePak V9 makes piping system design and analysis easier than ever, resulting in greater productivity for engineers," said ALGOR product manager Bob Williams. "This new release makes it easy for users to define piping systems, graphically review systems and analysis results and then quickly perform the modifications often required in an iterative design process."
"The new interface featured in PipePak V9 increases productivity because it provides the familiar look and feel and data input options of other Windows applications," said Frank Porbeck of Porbeck Engineering
Corporation, a participant in the PipePak V9 beta program. "Learning the new PipePak interface is easy since it closely resembles ALGOR’s FEMPRO, which we use for performing
FEA."
"I use PipePak to analyze fiberglass and carbon steel process piping
systems for thermal and seismic analysis and to generate pipe support
loads," said Edward Tomassian of County Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles
County. "V9's Windows-native interface and improved spreadsheet will make
it easier to define piping systems and then view or modify piping sections and
the associated data. These capabilities will enable me to work more
efficiently."
PipePak provides piping system designers and engineers with a tool for
defining complete piping systems and performing structural analysis in
compliance with industry-standard piping codes. It enables engineers to
graphically visualize analysis results and create HTML or text reports to
summarize input; equipment data; analysis results including code stress
allowables and stress ratios; and more. In addition to using a spreadsheet to
define piping systems, PipePak provides graphical drawing tools, layout import
options and the capability to combine drawings, spreadsheet data entry or
imported layouts.
PipePak V9 features:
- an all-new Windows-native interface with right-click functionality,
multiple views and docking toolbars
- a tree view that provides easy navigation and review of all piping system
data
- a data entry dialog view that facilitates easy data entry, review and
modification
- a modern spreadsheet for defining piping systems
- the capability to cut, copy and paste data from individual and multiple
spreadsheet cells and rows
- the capability to define data in the spreadsheet by selecting previously
defined components from a drop-down list
- an integrated report view that displays text-based input and output
reports
- the capability to directly move to the spreadsheet rows that define the
component(s) selected in the visualization view
- over 25 additional changes based on customer feedback
ALGOR customers with a current software upgrade subscription for these
products will get these new capabilities automatically through the software
update wizard.
