PITTSBURGH, PA – June 8, 2000 – Algor, Inc., a leading maker of
mechanical engineering software, was recently recognized by the Pittsburgh
Section of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) for making a
significant impact on the mechanical engineering profession at both a local and
international level. At an awards banquet held at the Engineer’s Society of
Western Pennsylvania, Michael L. Bussler, president and CEO of Algor, accepted
the annual ASME Region V Industry Recognition award on behalf of the company.
"This award attests to Algor’s commitment to advancing high technology
through both our innovative finite element analysis and Mechanical Event
Simulation software products and our regional support of ASME," said
Bussler, who also serves as a Pittsburgh Section director. "Our continued
support of employee involvement in technical societies will fortify our
engineering software development effort for years to come."
According to Albert Bouvy, ASME Pittsburgh Section honors and awards
chairman, Algor was a prime candidate for the award. "A major factor in our
decision to recognize Algor with this award was the company’s long-time
support of the ASME Pittsburgh Section and the technical community as a
whole," Bouvy said. "Algor has been very active through contributions
of both time and resources."
Specifically, Bouvy noted that Algor engineers have made presentations at
Section meetings, held ASME offices and served on the Section Executive
Committee with the full support of the company. In addition, Algor has provided
its facilities for ASME meetings, educational purposes and tours. Finally, Algor
is a supporter and contributor to local and national ASME publications.
In addition to this most recent industry recognition, Algor’s innovative
Mechanical Event Simulation software earned Bussler the 1999 Scientist Award
from the Carnegie Science Center. The award recognizes outstanding scientific
accomplishments that have economically benefited Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Mechanical Event Simulation is the only software that predicts stress results
directly from the flexible-body motion of a finite element model.
Algor has been a leader in the engineering software industry since
introducing FEA for PCs in 1984 and interfacing with CAD systems in 1985. The
company provides innovative, affordable and easy-to-use software products that
have enabled 20,000 engineers in 60 countries to create safe, efficient,
cost-effective designs. Algor also offers superior educational support and
customer service that includes the use of state-of-the-art Internet audio/video
technology for "Web Courses," which provide step-by-step software
instruction, and free public "Webcasts" in live demonstration format.
Algor’s product line features FEA-based Accupak/VE Mechanical Event
Simulation software. Accupak/VE reduces the need for physical prototyping and
eliminates the need to input dynamic loads by determining the motion, flexing
and resulting stresses of a part or assembly at each instant of an event. Algor’s
proprietary kinematic element technology makes performing Mechanical Event
Simulations using CAD solid parts and assemblies practical for realistic,
accurate results. Engineers can use Algor’s InCADPlus and
InCAD DesignPak products to seamlessly capture exact CAD geometry from popular
CAD systems within Algor. The company also offers linear stress, vibration, heat
transfer, electrostatic, fluid flow, composite materials and piping systems
analysis tools. Algor’s software interchanges data with products from ANSYS,
Inc. (Nasdaq:ANSS), Autodesk, Inc. (Nasdaq:ADSK), CADKEY Corporation,
MSC.Software Corporation (NYSE:MNS), Parametric Technology Corporation,
Structural Dynamics Research Corporation, Unigraphics Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:UGS),
SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq:DASTY) company, and
others.
