Algor's PipePak 7.0 provides a Report
Wizard that summarizes input, analysis results, equipment data and more by automatically generating HTML reports that can be viewed
and printed through any web browser. PipePak 7.0 saves model images in a variety of
graphic file formats and has an upgraded interface that increases ease-of-use and
efficiency. |
October 8, 1999, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Algor, Inc., a leading maker of
software for mechanical engineers, today announced the release of PipePak 7.0, a piping
design and analysis software package that features a new HTML Report Wizard. The Report
Wizard creates formatted, fully customizable reports that can include specified graphics
and be displayed using any web browser. The new version of PipePak can also save model
images as many popular graphic file formats and has an improved interface for ease-of-use.
"Algor recognizes that much of a piping engineer's time is spent generating
accurate and readable reports that are complete," said Michael L. Bussler, president
and CEO of Algor. "Now, with the Report Wizard, the engineer can customize the report
content and view and print it using any web browser. That saves time and money."
Along with the Report Wizard, PipePak users will be able to directly save model images
in popular graphic formats, such as JPEG, TIF, PCX, PNG, TGA and BMP files, further
increasing the overall presentation capabilities already available in the software.
"Piping engineers can now more easily meet their tight deadlines and produce a
well-formatted, professional report that contains all input data, such as loads, boundary
conditions, material properties and full illustrations of their model. And the report can
be viewed on paper or over the Internet, so engineers in different divisions or time zones
can review the report simultaneously." Bussler said.
Algor continues to strive for a high standard of "user friendliness" with a
new interface that ties all elements of PipePak 7.0 into one menu accessible from within
Superdraw III. The menu contains options to aid in designing any piping system through a
standard spreadsheet, from a Superdraw model or from imported data from another piping
package or CAD system.
Many of the Help features and data input windows have been upgraded to standard
Windows-based application screens. The input screens contain copy and paste features as
well as all other Windows-style functionality. The Help features in PipePak have been
enriched to include context-sensitive help for all data fields, improved Help messages and
a direct link to DocuTech-Algor's CD-ROM based software documentation.
In response to customer feedback, PipePak 7.0 offers enhanced visibility of the
frequency and mode shape output by displaying Mode Shape plots more prominently within the
PipePak graphics window. In addition, Algor has ensured that all flange and anchor
intersection points are fully visible during post-processing. Finally, PipePak 7.0 will be
able to run on a protected network with minimal hard drive use, ensuring that engineers
can run the application locally or over a network more efficiently.
In the future, expect to see an additional PipePak add-on that will import files from
other piping packages such as Caesar II, increasing the compatibility of PipePak with many
piping packages. And, in Algor's ongoing effort to improve user friendliness, look for
more Windows-based application screens with full Window's style functionality. Algor
customers with current software upgrade subscriptions can get PipePak 7.0 by submitting a
software update request form at www.algor.com or contacting their Algor representative at
+1 (412) 967-2700. PipePak 7.0 is available for Windows 95/98 and NT workstations.
Algor has been a leader in the engineering software industry since introducing FEA for
PCs in 1984 and interfacing with CAD systems in 1985. The company recently celebrated 20
years of providing innovative, affordable and easy-to-use software products that have
enabled 20,000 engineers in 60 countries to create safe, efficient, cost-effective
designs. Algor also offers superior educational support and customer service that has been
expanded to include the use of state-of-the-art Internet audio/video technology for live
educational "Web Courses" and free public "Webcasts" that include
step-by-step Algor software instruction.
Algor's most recent invention, FEA-based Accupak/VE Mechanical Event Simulation
software with linear and nonlinear material models, replaces physical prototype testing
with virtual prototype testing because it realistically simulates motion and flexing in
mechanical events, eliminates the need to input dynamic loads and computes and shows
resulting stresses on the computer model at each instant in time. Algor's new kinematic
finite element technology now makes it practical to perform Mechanical Event Simulations
with Accupak/VE on CAD solid models or assemblies. Algor offers a range of other FEA
capabilities including linear stress, vibration and natural frequencies, heat transfer,
electrostatics, fluid flow, piping design and composite materials. Algor's software
interchanges data with products from ANSYS, Inc. (Nasdaq:ANSS), Autodesk, Inc.
(Nasdaq:ADSK), CADKEY Corporation, MSC.Software (NYSE:MNS), Parametric Technology
Corporation (Nasdaq:PMTC), Structural Dynamics Research Corporation (Nasdaq:SDRC),
Unigraphics Solutions, Inc. (NYSE:UGS), SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A.
(Nasdaq:DASTY) company and others.
